New Phone? Transfer Apps

The biggest headache after getting a new mobile phone is usually transferring your data over from your old phone.
Luckily, there are now apps that can help. The days of laboriously copying all your old phone numbers by hand to the new phone are long gone. Smartphones can complete the data transfer almost automatically – users only have to follow a few simple steps.
It is recommended to use apps from the smartphone's manufacturer, according to specialist magazine PC go. From Apple to Sony, there are a range of offers to choose from.

Transferring data from an older iPhone to a new one is now so straightforward that the user may barely notice it – even the layout of the apps on the home screen stays the same.

Many Android manufacturers also offer import options in the form of apps. Huawei has Phone Clone, Sony has Xperia. Transfer Mobile and Samsung has Smart Switch Mobile.
But if you're changing from one manufacturer to another, and maybe even from one operating system to another, less data gets transferred.

Some apps like WhatsApp automatically carry data onto a new smartphone via internal backups – including pictures sent and received, videos and audio messages.
Securing photos and videos is often especially important to users. To transfer these, you could use cloud storage services like Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive or the Google Photo app. In this way, memories are automatically stored online and can be transferred to the new phone as needed.

As an alternative to cloud storage, you can also transfer data onto a PC via a cable. This is often quicker for larger amounts of data than a wireless connection from phone to phone. Android smartphones can be attached to a computer using a USB cable, and then used as a storage device.
You can find photos and videos saved on the camera in the DCIM folder.
